Designed for demanding industrial lifting operations, the R2 automatic release hook gives operators full visibility and control at every step — from a safe distance, with clear status feedback and a fail-safe design built for reliability.
Real-Time Monitoring: LED Status Indicators
The R2 carries high-brightness, multi-colour LEDs visible from a distance even in direct sunlight.
LEDs automatically turn off during load suspension when Eco Mode is enabled.

Green — Unlocked / Release
Steady Green
Lock pin fully retracted — hook unlocked and ready to release.
Double Green Scanner
Same status, appears after 10s to save battery.
Single Green Circular Sweep
Autolock is enabled and monitoring the crane’s vertical displacement. The R2 will lock itself automatically once the configured height is reached.
Blue — Locked / Lift
Steady Blue
Pin fully extended — hook locked and secured. The R2 is ready to lift the load.
Double Blue Scanner
Same status, appears after 10s to save battery.
Single Blue Circular Sweep
Eco Mode is disabled and the R2 detects a suspended load.
Red — Transition
Steady Red
The locking mechanism is transitioning. Do not attempt to lift. This appears during every normal lock/unlock transition and is usually instantaneous (less than one second).
Double Red Scanner
If Steady Red persists beyond 10s, the locking pin may be stuck due to tension. Do not lift — lower the unit and send the release command again.
White — Low Battery
Steady White
Below 20%. The R2 remains operable; replace the battery soon.
Double White Scanner
Same status, appears after 10s to save battery.
White + Beep
Below 10%. Critical battery level — the R2 will not accept lock or unlock commands. Replace the battery immediately.
Off
Off
The load is suspended (in Eco Mode), or the battery is depleted. No commands are accepted, for safety and battery conservation.
Battery – Compact, Powerful and Rechargeable
The R2 automatic release hook utilizes a high-performance Li-ion battery for extended operation and reduced downtime.
No tools. No cables. Just twist and go.
- Quick swap: Twist-lock plug — insert, twist 30° to switch on. Reverse to switch off. No tools needed.
- Easy monitoring: Check charge level with the push button and LED, even when detached from the remote release hook.

Hardware Configuration Options
The R2 can be configured at time of order with different hardware options. Some changes might require intervention by an Elebia service representative.
Latch Type
The latch controls how the hook engages the load. Two options are available:
Spring Latch
The latch closes automatically when the sling enters the hook. No manual action required — the hook is ready to lift as soon as the sling is seated. Compatible with single sling configurations only.
Rigid Latch
The latch remains fixed and does not move independently. This is the only configuration that allows more than one sling to be inserted into the hook, provided that: the total load does not exceed the WLL; the load applied on the latch does not exceed 50% of the WLL; and working angles of the slings are respected according to standard rigging practice.
Spring Options
The R2 is available in two spring options, set at time of order.
Normally Closed
When the load is back on the ground, send the release command. The hook unlocks and the sling detaches as the crane rises.
The hook then closes automatically — no manual intervention needed. Ready for the next lift.
Removes the need for manual hook closure, reducing handling steps and improving overall efficiency and safety.
The sling does not release until the crane moves upward. Customers who prefer to see the sling fall free may prefer the Normally Open setup.
Some configuration changes might require spring replacement by an Elebia service representative.

What makes the R2 different from a traditional airhook?
The R2 automatic release hook is fully wireless — no pneumatic hoses, no cables, and no permanent installation required. It features automatic fail-safe mechanisms, an altimeter-based Autolock, and a Safe Release Sensor that traditional airhooks do not offer. Designed for productivity, it requires minimal maintenance and integrates into any crane without modifications.
Can the R2 be used in outdoor and harsh environments?
Yes. The R2 remote release hook is designed to operate in demanding conditions, including exposure to water and dust.
How long does the battery last?
Battery life is above multiple shifts depending on the use and configured parameters. The hot-swap system means operations never stop — operators carry a spare and swap in seconds.
What maintenance does the R2 require?
Pre-shift visual inspection by a certified user and periodic inspection by Elebia-designated personnel. Full inspection checklist available in the user manual.
Is the R2 compatible with our existing crane?
Yes. The R2 works with all Elebia remote controls and can integrate directly into the crane’s master control via eINST, or fully via PLC with eLINK.
